Gayle Ziegler - MGH&FC Employee of the Month for May

Release Date: Jun 17, 2019

SHELTON, Wash. – The Staffing Department at Mason General Hospital needs to run without interruption, and its efficiency in scheduling nursing staff is vital to patient care.  Gayle Ziegler makes that happen, going the extra mile in helping her coworkers, and was recently selected to be MGH&FC’s May Employee of the Month.

“This past year Gayle has gone above and beyond to help implement and teach others to use the new Kronos Scheduling System,” said her nominator, adding, “yet she still made time for her normal duties ‒ always with a smile and calm demeaner.”

Gayle Ziegler has worked at Mason General for the past 28 years, first as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) in Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics (MSP) and then as a monitor tech in the ICU.  She obtained her CNA certification from South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) in 1989, and did her training at Evergreen Convalescent Center in Olympia before applying to Mason General Hospital.  Now, dealing more with her peers than with patients, Gayle is in charge of staffing and scheduling in six hospital departments including the ICU, MSP, Birth Center, ER, and House Supervising.

“Being at Mason General Hospital this long really brings you close with the staff, who have become like family in a working relationship,” said Gayle, who is highly regarded for her willingness to take on the new technology and assist in helping others learn it.

“Working with Gayle is always a pleasure,” her nominator went on to say. “She is polite, and respectful, and even a bit funny at times.”

Born in San Diego, Gayle came to the Pacific Northwest with her parents when she was just four years old, settling in Shelton and graduating from Shelton High School in 1987.  In 2001 she married Eric Zeigler, and together they have two daughters, Loryn and Haley.  Gayle and Eric now enjoy living as a couple on the waterfront at Harstine Island.  When not busy at her job, Gayle enjoys being outside gardening, camping and spending time with family and friends.

MGH&FC is certified by Det Norske Veritas - Germanischer Lloyd (DNV-GL) and is a licensed and accredited acute care hospital with a level four emergency trauma designation. There are more than 100 physicians on staff in 19 specialties.  MGH&FC now offers Virtual Care ‒ 24/7.  For more information on Virtual Care or to find a health care provider, go to www.MasonGeneral.com.
