Melissa Strong
Melissa Strong, Chief Nursing Officer. Strong has been with the District for 19 years. She began her career as a nurse on the Medical-Surgical Floor and then transferred into Intensive Care Nursing. She has held many nursing positions as well as director level positions within the District. Strong received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 2010 from Grand Canyon University and went on to receive her Masters in the Science of Nursing with an emphasis on healthcare systems in 2012 from Grand Canyon University. She has been in her current position since January 2017. Strong is an active member of the Northwest Organization of Nursing Executives and the Washington Rural Health Collaborative (WRHC). In 2020 Melissa was elected as Chair of the WRHC's Chief Nursing Executive Committee. She is also an active member of AHA’s nursing legislative committee. Ms. Strong volunteers her time with the Shelton School District, Women’s Health Event, annual Shelton parades, Family Health Event, and various other volunteer opportunities.
